据阿联酋卫生和预防部当地时间1月5日宣布，阿联酋当局合作科研机构与中国国药集团达成协议，将在中方授权下在当地生产国药疫苗，另外还将额外从中方进口数百万剂已经生产好的疫苗。这也是中国新冠疫苗在上个月初阿联酋正式获批上市后，中阿双方在联合抗疫上再次加深合作。
阿联酋卫生部门发言人表示，自去年10月1月以来，阿联酋至少已经接种了826301剂疫苗，平均每天接种47000剂。阿联酋的目标是在3月底前使接种数量达到该国50%的人口数。阿联酋在本国开展疫苗生产主要是为了进一步满足国内需求，同时以备全球疫苗市场所需。目前，弱势群体有优先接种权，但根据发言人的说法，阿联酋也希望为年轻人尽快接种疫苗。
2020年7月，这个拥有1000万人口的海湾国家已经与中国国药集团合作，开始新冠疫苗Ⅲ期临床试验，在阿联酋生活、来自125个国家和地区的31000多名志愿者参加了这一试验。截至目前，中国国药集团已经向阿联酋提供了300万支新冠灭活疫苗。（总台记者 龚明）
