英欧贸易和合作协定将于2021年1月1日开始临时实施
12月28日，欧盟轮值主席国德国发言人塞巴斯蒂安·费舍尔在其社交媒体表示，欧盟成员国驻欧盟大使一致通过了一项决定，将从2021年1月1日开始，临时实施英欧贸易和合作协定。他补充说，下一步是通过书面程序最终采纳该协定，截止日期是欧洲中部时间周二下午3点。
英欧贸易和合作协定经过近一年的艰难谈判，终于在欧洲时间12月24日达成。该协议还需要通过欧洲议会的批准才能正式生效。由于欧洲议会需要时间审核该协定，已经确定无法在2021年1月1日起正式批准协定内容。所以，英欧双方选择了临时实施英欧贸易和合作协定的方式来避免英国在12月31日正式脱欧后带来的混乱。
