当地时间11月6日，丹麦广播电视台(DR)报道，丹麦血清研究所在一份报告中指出，在丹麦发现了5种不同的貂类变异新冠肺炎病毒，即cluster 1— cluster 5。初步研究表明，与非突变型病毒相比，第5组中的这种病毒对抗体敏感性降低，这已在实验室实验中得到证明。这一发现令人担忧，因为它可能会对新冠肺炎疫苗产生影响。还使用相同的方法检查了来自cluster 1的病毒，但是没有发现降低的抗体敏感性的证据。其他变体（cluster 2–4）也正在测试敏感性。但是，这些研究需要花费数周时间，因为需要培养病毒。
在丹麦，从6月初到10月中旬，在5102个样本中，有214例检测到来自貂类变异新冠肺炎病毒。8月和9月在5个水貂养殖场和12个样本中发现了“Cluster 5”病毒。其中11例来自北日德兰半岛，西兰岛1例。这表明迄今为止，在靠近感染养殖场的北日德兰半岛，貂类变异新冠肺炎病毒的感染是主要的问题。
