该监管机构明确指出，互联网上有关加密投资的广告大多是欺诈行为。这些计划为短期投资提供高利率，吸引了许多潜在的受害者。
此外，欺诈者冒充受监管的公司来诱骗潜在的受害者。其他欧洲监管机构也在不断针对此类克隆平台发出警告。
这些平台看起来是合法的，并诱使潜在的受害者分提供他们的联系方式，这样他们就可以通过虚假的报价接近受害者。许多骗子甚至出售根本不存在的加密资产，以推动他们获得进一步的投资。
FCMC进一步澄清，数字货币的发行和流通在拉脱维亚不受监管，这使得许多此类诈骗者得以滋生。然而，一些加密投资工具，包括差价合约(CFD)，在该国受到监管。
