孤阴不长 孤阳不生
万事万物讲究阴阳平衡，否则就是物极必反。
阴阳学说里说到的阴阳有几个特点：
一、事物的阴阳属性，并不是绝对的，而是相对的，这种相对属性在一定条件下，阴阳之间可以发生相互转化，即阴可转化为阳，阳也可转化为阴，也即是“物极必反”。
二、同一事物是无限可分的，例如，昼为阳，夜为阴，而白天里上午与下午相对而言，则上午为阳，下午为阴。
三、阴阳是相互制约的，当取得动态平衡后，称之阴阳平衡 ，也叫“阴平阳秘”；若阴太过或阳太过，就会出现阴阳失衡的病理状态。
四、阴阳是相互对立的，但又是相互依存的，任何一方离开另一方都失去意义。
五、阴阳双方并不是处于静止不变的，而是始终处于不断运动变化中。例如，白天向黑夜转化等。
