Baker Hughes reported that the total number of rotary rigs in the U.S. increased to 544 as of October 29 from 542 in the prior week, and rigs in Canada rose to 166 from 164.
The net long position of WTI crude oil fell 1.7% over week to 340,844 contracts as of October 26, according to the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.
