The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported that U.S. crude oil stockpiles dropped 8.537 million barrels for the week ending June 11, much larger than the expected decrease of 3.0 million barrels. Later today, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) will release the official oil inventories for the period with an estimated decline of 3.29 million barrels.
